  About Us

Pets are an indispensable part of our lives. Their wags, licks and cuddles brighten up the gloomiest of days and their unconditional love makes us feel warm and special. Trying to decipher what your pet is going through can be as traumatic an experience for you as it is for your pet.

A lot of veterinarian clinics offer treatment and care for generic ailments. Dr. Donald O Schueler noticed a dearth in the niche for specialized diagnosis and treatments and committed his life to filling up that void.

To this effect The American College of Veterinary and Internal medicine was created in 1973.  Our college has a referral veterinary hospital ideally located amidst the plush green and serene rolling hills of Carroll County, Maryland. This hospital is exclusively dedicated to the diagnosis and treatments of neurological disorders.

Neurological disorders comprise of any imbalance in the nervous system. This includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles. For years disorders related to the nervous system were considered fatalistic and the only option pet owners had, was to bid tearful goodbyes to the pet who owned a piece of their hearts. Under the experienced supervision of Dr. Schueler many pets have recovered their former health despite suffering from a traumatic ailment.
Dr. Shueler’s committed research has made it possible to diagnose and treat neurological disorders like epilepsy, intervertebral disc disease, spinal and head injuries, meningitis and cancers of the nervous system. Today pet owners have the option of bringing their pets to us with the hope of taking home with them a healed pet well on the way to recovery.

It is our endeavor to give your pet chance at a second life despite a blow to the nervous system. We have state of the art diagnostic facilities and well researched treatment options that can help your pet get back to his or her life once again. We even have a dedicated rehabilitation center which encourages your pet back to health with physiotherapy and recreational activities
